Generosity - Rule of Life

GENEROSITY

A community of sacrifice in a culture of scarcity through the practice of generosity.

Generosity is the practice of giving away our resources as an act of sacrificial love. Generosity is central to who God is and so as we give generously, we mirror God’s love to the world. We want to be joyful givers, giving to others in response to all that God has given to us.

How we live this out

Start*: Make a one-off gift to the church and to someone in need

We want to develop generous hearts, and it can be helpful to start on a one-off basis. We want to be sowing into the local church community we’re part of, as well as being attentive to those in need we may encounter in our everyday lives.

Suggested*: Give away 10% of our monthly income to the church and one-off gifts to others in need

The traditional practice of tithing involves setting aside 10% of our income to serve the work of the Kingdom through the local church. Our suggested practice at KXC is to give away a portion of our monthly income to the church as well as to others in need.

*The Start version is a good way to get going, while the Suggested version is our shared practice.

Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:32-34
