God With Us

SUNDAY 05 December 2021 | God With Us - Jesus With The Powerful

Jesus had a radical relationship with power. We are in Advent as we finish up this sermon series on ‘God with Us’ and those two things align beautifully. The whole point of Emmanuel is that the God of everything came, as a baby – the most powerful becoming one of us. The paradox of God with us is the way God wielded his power in ways that we never would have expected. Ruth May walks us through how Jesus related to power in all forms, and His revolutionary new model of what power looks like.

SUNDAY 07 November 2021 | God With Us - Jesus With Women

Today’s culture has a tendency to think of ethics as an evolving notion. As civilisations have progressed, our morals have constantly evolved in an upward trajectory. If that were the case then we would have nothing to learn from the way of Jesus. However, the reality is that the model and example of Jesus is the climactic moment in all of human history. It doesn’t take a long look to conclude that the treatment of women in today’s society isn’t flourishing. This week Pete takes a deep dive into the context that Jesus was in, alongside today’s context and then challenges our approach to this moment.

SUNDAY 01 November 2021 | God With Us - Jesus With The Poor

London is longing for a community that becomes a living picture of the Kingdom of Heaven. Tyler Staton brings us a challenge to look honestly at our lives and community to see if it reflects this Kingdom. The followers of Jesus were asked, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?’ In response, Jesus showed and taught that proximity to the poor is an inseparable part of what it looked like to follow him.

SUNDAY 24 October 2021 | God With Us - Jesus With Sinners

This is the start of a new series. God with us. We are going to go on a journey discovering the incarnational nature of a living God. This week, Damilola Makinde walks us through a story in the Bible where a woman anoints Jesus with perfume from an alabaster jar. She goes into God’s love language towards us and how God’s love for us is met by our outpouring of worship. We give all of ourselves because he has given more than we can offer.
